QUITO -- At least five inmates were killed and another 23 people were injured in the latest riot to roil Ecuador's prison system, authorities said Thursday.

ABUJA -- At least 19 extremist militants were killed in anti-terror operations by troops in Nigeria's northeast region in the past two weeks, an official said on Thursday.
Musa Danmadami, the spokesman for the military, told reporters at a press briefing in Abuja, the Nigerian capital, that airstrikes by troops targeted enclaves of the Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militant groups in Kolaram and Bukar Meram, two towns in the northern state of Borno. KATHMANDU -- Sixteen people were killed and 20 others injured on Thursday when a passenger bus overturned in Nepal's Bara district.
The bus with 51 passengers onboard was heading toward the southern city of Birgunj from Hetauda when the accident happened on the country's East-West Highway. (Nepal-Traffic Accident)
