The Seahawks claimed safety Johnathan Abram off waivers, adding a former first-round pick to their secondary.

Abram, a 2019 first-round pick of the Raiders, was a starter in Las Vegas in 2020 and 2021 after missing almost all of his rookie season due to injury, then he was waived by the Raiders earlier this season. Abram was claimed by Green Bay and appeared in two games for the Packers before being waived.

The Seahawks had an open spot on the roster having placed receiver Dee Eskridge on injured reserve Saturday, so no corresponding move was needed to make room for Abram.

In 38 games, 34 of them starts, Abram recorded 257 tackles, 12 passes defensed, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries, including 202 tackles, 10 passes defensed and three interceptions during his two seasons as a starter in Las Vegas.

Abram was a first-team All-SEC selection as a senior at Mississippi State when he recorded 99 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two interceptions and five passes defensed.
