5.3-magnitude quake hits 50 km NNE of Valmy, U.S. state of Nevada -- USGS

BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 jolted 50 km NNE of Valmy, the U.S. state of Nevada, at 1859 GMT on Saturday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 6.0 km, was initially determined to be at 41.18 degrees north latitude and 116.80 degrees west longitude.
