Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said Tuesday that the team has opened Hampton's 21-day practice window, meaning the rookie running back will return to the practice field.

"Good to get him back on the field and start ramping up," Harbaugh said.

He later added: "Just going to really ramp up, see how the week goes. Good to get him back out there."Hampton can now potentially return for Sunday's home game against theLas Vegas Raiders, but his status will likely depend on how he fares this week at practice.

The Chargers rookie running back has been on Injured Reserve since suffering an ankle injury in Week 5 against the Commanders.

He had been working off to the side in recent weeks, with Harbaugh noting earlier this month that his possible return could come after the bye week.

Hampton had been one of the Chargers most productive offensive players before his injury, tallying 86 total touches for 450 yards and two touchdowns.

The 22-year-old has 66 carries for 314 yards and a pair of scores so far on the ground.

Kimani Vidalwas solid over the past six games with 417 rushing yards and a pair of scores as he filled in as the Bolts top running back. Vidal suffered a thigh injury in Week 11 against the Jaguars.

"Kimani should be good to go," Harbaugh said.

Najee Harrisis out for the season with an Achilles injury and Hassan Haskins is still on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury.

The Chargers also opened the 21-day practice window for defensive lineman Otito Ogbonnia, who hasn't played since Week 7 with an elbow injury.
